Weekend Waffle: My Routine

Sorry for the lack of proper posts recently, I didn't realise how much work had piled up on me because of my chronic procrastination (ok, slight exaggeration), I'm just very lazy when it comes to doing work! So I've had two essays to do already, and I've had to do loads of extra reading for politics because I just don't understand any of it, stupid pointless compulsory units!
Anyway enough of that, and on to this cute little post I spied on Nic's blog and decided it would be the perfect weekend waffle post for this weekend :)

September Favourites

I know, I know, it is pretty much mid October BUT I did start to write this once got it all done and pretty and then blogger decided to get rid of most of it when I saved it (does that ever happen to anyone else or am I just being a bit dumb?) so I decided to be stubborn and leave it. So here goes my 'better late than never' September Favourites!! I tried to make it as many 'new' or 'rediscovered' products as I could, otherwise I would just constantly be talking about the same stuff over and over!

1. Superdrug's (own brand?) Witch Hazel (£1.79 ..ish?)
I first heard about 'The Wonders of Witch Hazel' over at Nic's blog (who btw I definitely recommend you check out if you haven't already, her blog is one of my faves!). So after a bit more internet research I knew I had to give this a go, if only for the fact that it was majorly cheap compared to most skincare products and I would have nothing to loose! I basically use this as a toner twice a day with a cotton pad all over my face, and I have really been loving the effects it has had on my skin!

2. Pantene Pro-V Aqua Light
It seems like everyone managed to get a sample of these last month a pretty decent sized sample too, compared to those measly sachets you usually get! I was quite dubious about how they would perform for me as I have very thick hair which tends to be quite dry, so I thought a light weight conditioner would not be beneficial as I like mine to be really moisturising. However I was pleasantly surprised, the conditioner really did condition well and they left my hair feeling light soft and shiny! Definitely will be picking up the full sizes!

3. Blistex Intensive Moisturiser
It seems I forgot to take a picture of this one oh well :) This was a product I neglected and just sat around in my lip draw not being touched, so when I was having a re-organise I decided to give it a go again and I'm glad I did! It's the best lip treatment I have tried as it leaves my lips smooth soft and moisturised and I don't even have to use it every night!!

4. Elf Eyebrow Kit

I have used this everday since I got it, it has completely replaced my crummy pencils as it is so much easier and quicker to do. I really love the effect it gives and they last and stay in place all day!

5. MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Modesty.
This has quickly become my 'go to' lip colour, it is my 'my lips but better' shade and I completely adore it! Its a gorgeous muted neautral pink colour that will go with pretty much any look which is why it has become my fail-safe lipstick!

6. Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Virgin, from the Naked Palette.
I am in love with this eyeshadow. It is the perfect highlight shade! It instantly brightens up the eye with just the right about of sheen. I've been trying to find a dupe for it because as far as I know its limited to this palette and at the rate I am using it, it will be gone very soon :(

Swatches of Virgin and Modesty

Again, very sorry its late, I'll try to be better next month :)

Weekend Waffle: Ins and Outs

Hello there lovelies :)
I hope you have all had a fabulous week whatever you have all been up to! I'm finally settling in to the uni routine now, bought some books (:(), got my timetable sorted and know where all of my lectures and tutorials are now (just about!!). My Uni/course seems to have quite a lot more lectures and things than others, my friend at Liverpool doing a similar course only has 4 a week, and I have 10 lectures and 5 tutorials :|

Ins
- Models Own Purple Ash from the 'Car Key' Collection. This colour is seriously gorgeous! Definitely my new favourite autumn/winter shade, I will have to do a NOTD to show it in all its glory!
- Matt Cardle from the X Factor. Oh my. His voice is stunning! Serious shivery goosebumpage when he sung that song at boot camp. Love him :D
- The Apprentice!!! 'nuff said. Although I do think 'Lord Sugar' sounds sort of like a dodgy porn star name. Or maybe that's just me?
- Finally booking my first driving lesson for Wednesday, thanks everyone for the encouragement :)

Outs
- Colds. There's just no need. You've annoyed me for an entire week now, please kindly do one.
- My boyfriend sodding off to Stafford for a week to look after his dads cat ¬_¬ Stupid cat.
- Paying £100 on two books for Uni. I nearly cried handing over my card :(

Rightio, I'm off to stuff my face with a KFC snack box, popcorn chicken of course! Very nutritious work lunch, but its the weekend so I'm allowed :)

Review: Lush Fresh Farmacy Cleanser

I have been searching for a new cleanser, preferably one that is gentle and will thoroughly cleanse my skin and one that is not stuffed full of nasty chemicals that will probably do my skin more harm than good. I was looking into Cetaphil who's cleanser had been recommended highly for sensitive skin conditions in my case acne. However this isn't readily available in the UK, unless I'm just not looking hard enough, but as far as I know you can't get it in the major pharmacies ie, Boots and Superdrug. I did see it advertised on Lloyds Pharmacy's website but I couldn't find it stocked in my closest store. So I turned to Lush, who's ethos is natural cosmetics and fit the bill perfectly. Personally I have not tried any of Lush's skin care products, not for any other reason than I had been satisfied with the ones I had been using. Since aforementioned skin blip, I have been on a huge skincare kick and decided to look after my skin properly. I was scanning through Lush's various cleansers and decided on this one, as it suited my skin type the best and offered the results I wanted.

Lush say: 'Fresh Farmacy is the soothing, cleansing bar to reach for whenever you see a spot starting rear its ugly head. It makes a tiny bit of froth to clean your face gently. And because it's made with masses of calamine and chamomile, it's one of the most extraordinarily calming cleansers known to humankind.'

I had previously been a fan of the tea tree range from The Body Shop, so knowing this had tea tree in made my hopes slightly higher. I was sort of dubious when I first opened the packaging, I had never tried a soap bar sort of cleanser before and it didn't look particularly amazing, just a sort of pinky grey slab. The smell is completely subtle and non-offensive, it doesn't really have a distinctive smell sort of just natural and soapy?
I decided to cut my bar up into smaller chunks so I could use just a small amount at a time, my thoughts being that it was more sanitary that way and less likely to create bacteria having it lying around all soggy after I had used it.

I find that it lathers up really well into a nice thick creamy lather and it cleanses perfectly, although I like to make sure my skin is deeply cleansed so I tend to use a scrub or at the moment I am using The Body Shop's facial brush which I am really loving. After using it my skin does feel quite tight and can be rather dry in places, but it leaves it feeling really soft and clean. I wouldn't say it has any particularly special spot vanishing properties, however it is perfect for what I was looking for; a gentle natural cleanser that will not disrupt or irritate my blemish prone skin.
A week or so after using it my skin has cleared up quite well from the Pro Longwear incident and I am really glad it gave me the kick up the bum to look after my skin better.

Next on the skincare mission, a decent moisturiser!! So if you have any recommendations I would love to hear them and if you have any reviews just give me some linkage and I'll hop right over :)

Haul: MAC, Lush, Primark, New Look.

 MHi there lovelies :)

It seems like I haven't done a haul in forever, or been shopping for that matter, so since I had some pennies coming my way from Student Finance I thought I had better put them to good use (yes I will be buying books too :( at £50 a pop aswell. Its so depressing!!).

1. Stargazer Nail Polishes in 505 and 501 (£1.50 each).  These two shades caught my eye on the Stargazer display tactically placed by the tills in New Look, I've seen 501 on a few blogs before so I thought I would try them out, and for only £1.50 each it was a winner :)

2. Rimmel Lash Accelerator (£6.99).  After all the great reviews I knew I had to have this. I thought the effect was going to be like telescopic (my absolute favourite) but also have the long term effect of lengthening my lashes.

3. MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural in Light Medium (£18).  This is my first repurchase of this beauty. It is quite expensive for a face powder, but my last one lasted me six months and I used it everyday so its well worth it!

4. MAC Sheertone Blush in Peaches (£16.50).  I have wanted this for so long, it gives the loveliest natural flush to the cheeks.

1. Lush Grease Lightning (£5.10).
2. Lush Fresh Farmacy (£4.15).
I bought these two during my skin care binge, I will be reviewing them soon :D

1. Primark Satchel Bag (£9).  I got this bag in black a few weeks ago and I had to go back and get the tan colour too!
2. New Look Ankle Boots (£19.99).  I've wanted some ankle boots for ages and these fit the bill perfectly.
3. New Look Skinny Belts (£4.99).
4. George at Asda Flats (£10)  These where too cute to pass up on and somehow ended up sneaking into my mums trolley!

Well thats my little haul :) Hope you have all had a lovely weekend!
